BUNKAI (APLICATIONS) OF KATA KENSHIN RYU (37 times)

Bunkai 1

BUNKAI and SOME EXPLANATIONS ABOUT KENSHIN RYU KATA

1) MUSUBI DACHI = Taichi Rei (initial greet); Ryo Sho Otoshi Kogan Uke;

2) HEIKO DACHI = Kamae, to Ryo Ken Kogan Uke.

3) MAINTAINING MAE SHIKODACHI = Beat (deploy) both wings - going by Jodan Juji Kakuto Uke (left hand up) - and finish in Ryo Sho Mae Chudan Juji Uke (left hand up).

In this version, these movements ARE NOT continued. This sequencee of movements start in Shiko dachi with Ryo Ken Kogan Uke (left open hand cover right open hand, and both open hands cover testicles).

The following techniques are Jodan Mae Juji Kakuto Uke in front of the eyes (this double Kakuto Uke it is in “cross” form, forming the “X” letter). Here you must be a shortly pause, showing Juji Kakuto Uke. Now you begin a wide circular road simultaneously with both arms beating (deploying) the wings. In this circular road (now yes continued), both hands will return in front of testicles, then both hands must be with the palms to the front (north), always left hand up. But you don’t have to do a pause now. Both arms continued the circle another time to Jodan Juji Kakuto Uke, and – withoth pause too – your finish the movements going down both hands to Ryo Sho Mae Chudan Juji Uke (both hands in “X” in front of your chest, always with left hand up).

4) HIDARI SOKUMEN; HIDARI ORISHIKU DACHI

(IN THE PLACE, IN LINE AND VERY BELOW) = With hidari te up and migi te down, take the rival's wrist and drive him toward your left side (your left leg).

You are blocking (defending) a zuki - or tetsui - with Ryo Sho Mae Chudan Juji Uke. Then you have to grab the rival's wrist simultaneously with the left hand up and the right hand down, and - at the same time - with both hands (left palm to the floor, left fingers to NorthWest and right palm to the sky, right fingers to West))you must drive the rival toward left side. Although this version DOESN’T HAVE the Kata Ken Washi In Ryu’s movements (where both hands rotates on both wrists), to finish this bunkai your both hands must rotate on your both wrist, projecting and unbalancing your rival. At the end, your right hand should be with the palm to the floor (fingers to West) supporting on the intern part of the left hand's wrist, while left hand should be with the palm to the sky (fingers to North), and the stance must be Orishiku dachi (similar to Ryu Ha No Kamae).
